We owe our success as a business to the people who make
it all happen.
Our knowledgeable, well-trained, experienced team is made of the very best in the industry.
They’re estimators, project managers, CADD operators, and fabricators. They have years, even decades of experience in glazing, and no matter their background, they collaborate to ensure the best quality work possible is achieved for our clients.

“Build a great team. No one is an expert in everything; the strongest businesses are built on the smartest people, not on one person.”
Family is the biggest driving force in Mike’s life. He married his wife 30 years ago, together raising two kids who have now gone on and started their own families. He is a grandfather of three and in 2020 he and his wife adopted a little girl around the age of their grandkids. Gathering together as a family and watching the children spend time together is the highlight of his life. Mike started in glass 28 years ago; he was just 17 and worked as an assistant. He has gone from carrying people’s tools and cleaning job sites to owning Chesapeake Glazing. Starting at the bottom has given him a unique understanding of everything that goes into executing successful projects. In his free time, Mike enjoys traveling, coaching youth football, and fishing.

“You’re killing me, Smalls!” – The Sandlot
Aaron is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to glazing. Having spent nearly two decades in the industry (and starting at Chesapeake in 2011), he knows all the ins-and-outs and has been witness to the evolution of our business, technology, and processes. Aaron’s role with our company expands beyond project management; he also oversees our safety and quality control operations. The meaning of multitasking is not lost on Aaron; he is a proud father of two teenagers (Connor, 15 and Madison, 13), keeping him busy with events and activities outside the office. When looking to relax, Aaron enjoys skiing, mountain biking, golf and a good game of corn hole.

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” – Vince Lombardi
Veteran, family man, youth football coach, avid hunter — Warren is one who wears many hats in life. Prior to joining Chesapeake Glazing in 2015, he served in the United States Army, completing duty stations in Fort Knox, KY; Baumholder, Germany; Kunduz, Afghanistan; and Fort Hood, TX. Today he is a valued senior project manager with our company, keeping tabs on all elements of an install to ensure our work is top notch. When not in the office or on a job site, Warren is spending quality time with his wife, daughter, and son. He coaches football for the Mt. Airy Bulldogs and enjoys hunting white tailed deer and black bear at his family’s cabin in Pennsylvania.”

Melissa stumbled into construction as most of us have: with a sociology degree from Towson University. She started as a receptionist for a general contractor and quickly wanted to learn and do more. Thanks to some excellent mentors, Melissa made her way into a project engineer role, then transitioned to glazing in the late 2000s. Melissa joined Chesapeake Glazing in 2013 after moving to Baltimore. She retired from project management and now enjoys the selling side of the business — “less yelling,” she tells us. When Melissa is not at work, she enjoys her role as an Uber driver and social planner for her three daughters: Abby, Katherine, and Eleanor. You can find her at a cookie booth with Girl Scouts, at Home Depot with her husband, or in the park with one of her four Goldens. Her mission in life is getting pumpkin spice to be a year-round flavor.

“It always seems impossible until it’s done” — Nelson Mandela
Tom started in the glass business right out of high school when we was just 18 years old. We all have to start somewhere, right? He worked his way up from laborer to foreman, then joined Chesapeake Glazing, where he progressed from foreman, to field superintendent, to where he sits today as senior superintendent. Having spent time at every level in the field, Tom is an expert in production and seeing a project through to completion. We’re lucky to have his knowledge leading our team. In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife, Justine, and daughter, Chloe. He likes to tinker on his car and motorcycles and take trips with his family.

“If you can make it perfect, why not make it perfect?”
Phil is an advocate for mentorship. For sharing the knowledge he’s collected over the years with team members — especially those new to the work. With more than a decade of experience at Chesapeake Glazing alone, Phil understands how complex glazing can be and how rapidly things change within the industry. He says adapting to those changes can be challenging, but in the end, it’s what he finds to be most rewarding.
When not working, Phil enjoys spending time with family, particularly when they can get away to their vacation home in West Virginia. He was born and raised in Maryland, and today is raising his two children, Kyleigh and River, in the Baltimore-area.

Danny Keyser
Project Manager
4+ years at Chesapeake
“We don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges.”
Danny is one of our project managers at Chesapeake Glazing, but he is also our resident outdoorsman. When not at work, he can most likely be found training horses or giving guided horseback tours through some of Maryland’s beautiful nature trails. In the colder months, you might even find him instructing ski lessons.
Danny started in the glazing industry more than 18 years ago, first as a drafter, then moving into a project management role when he joined Chesapeake Glazing. We deeply value his wide range of skills, deep knowledge of the industry, and positivity when it comes to taking on new challenges.

“Set your goals high, and don’t stop till you get there.” – Bo Jackson
If there’s someone at Chesapeake Glazing who knows about hard work, dedication, and how to operate as part of a team, it’s Colby.
Colby joined Chesapeake Glazing immediately following his undergraduate degree at Davidson College, where he was a Division I football player. While balancing his life as a student athlete, Colby learned the importance of strategy, commitment, and communication —- all things he carries with him today in his role as assistant project manager. He enjoys continuing to learn about the industry and grow with our team.
Colby is the oldest of six children; spending time with his family is very important to him. A native of Baltimore, he is of course a big Ravens and Orioles fan and can be found cheering them on (whenever he isn’t watching Star Wars).

“Live, Laugh, Glaze”
Born in Catonsville, Matthew spent his childhood in York, PA before moving back to the Baltimore area as an adult. He is an Army veteran, having flown drones in his first job before starting work at a decorative glass company in 2015. This was when his interest in glass and construction began to grow. Matt worked his way from basic laborer to shop manager to project manager in a few years, then decided he wanted to do more than just glass. He discovered Chesapeake Glazing, and the rest is history. In his spare time, Matthew can be found watching football and cheering on his fantasy team. He enjoys spending time with his fiancé, Sarah, and watching Netflix.

“I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keeps the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.” – J.R.R. Tolkien
Joanna is a Carroll County Career and Technology School success story: she completed the drafting program and obtained her AutoCAD certification there, all while enrolled in high school at Century High in Sykesville, MD. (If that sounds like a lot of hard work, that’s because it is.) A month after her high school graduation in 2017, Joanna joined us at Chesapeake Glazing to assist with drafting. She officially moved into the roll of estimator in 2019. Joanna feels fortunate that she was able to launch her career so quickly following high school; the work she’s done and people she’s met have all pushed her to grow both professionally and personally. She credits where she is in life today to the opportunities she has taken advantage of and support and advice from coworkers.

Ciro Méndez
Field Superintendent
12+ years at Chesapeake
“Stay humble, but know your worth.”
Practically bursting with positivity, Ciro is an inspiration to everyone at Chesapeake Glazing. He came to the U.S. from Mexico, where he graduated from high school with a focus on ornamental fabrication. Building a successful, happy life for himself and his family was his goal in moving to the U.S., and today he is proud to see his daughter enrolled in college as a first generation student. Ciro started his career as a Laborer, then advancing to an Apprentice, Installer, Foreman, and now Field Superintendent with Chesapeake Glazing. He has studied English ESL, basic plumbing, and math since coming to the U.S.

John Ayre
Field Superintendent
9+ years at Chesapeake
“If I got any better, I couldn’t stand it.”
John is proof that a good mentor can make an enormous impact on a career. He started in the glazing field in 1984 as an assistant. The man he worked under taught him everything there was to know about glazing, giving him the foundation he needed to build a career that has lasted a lifetime. He has since advanced to where he is today as our field superintendent, having first joined Chesapeake Glazing in 2014. When away from work, John enjoys tinkering in his garage on his muscle car (or really anything with a motor), his dog never too far from his side.
